West Algarve Golf Courses
The Algarve can offer you 365 days of golf in a year - and we are reliably informed it has been done, if only by sneaking on to Parque de Floresta and doing some putting on the outer holes on Christmas day. The Algarve boasts over 30 courses, including three of the most magnificent championship courses ever designed: Penina, Vilamoura and Vale do Lobo. In November 2005 the Victoria Clube at Vilamoura hosted the World Golf Cup.

In the Western Algarve there are 6 proper golf courses starting from Alto Golf and Penina as the most to the east (just beyong Portimão) followed by Morgado, Palmares, Boavista and Parque de Floresta as the most westerly. Below, we present details on these including contact numbers to arrange rounds, sort out equipment and find accomodation. The Algarve is golf heaven - come and be an angel.

  •   Founded in 1987, at Vale do Poço, it is still a somewhat raw and rugged course with perhaps a little too much slope in places, but a bright change from some other open-park style layouts common in the Algarve. The short fifth, only 88 metres from the yellow tees, is played from an exposed hill top towards a crown green on a hillock and club selection can vary widely in fickle winds. Driving range, putting practice greens, pro shop and short-game practise area are available. Located just off the EN125, 16km west of Lagos, there are villas and apartments to rent or buy within the park. A health and beauty spa, tennis, archery, bowls lawns, swimming pools and gym facilities are incorporated.
